Cancer patients spend considerable time searching for information that is not always reliable.
According to survey results published by the Journal of Clinical Oncology, 86% of the patients surveyed wanted as much information as possible about their illness, while 54% reported having insufficient information.
Sadly, less than 10% of oncologists spend more than 30 minutes with cancer patients. 36% of the surveyed oncologists spend between 15 and 30 minutes with their patients, while the majority (54%) spends less than 15 minutes with cancer patients.
Patients are often forced to spend considerable time searching for answers to fill in the blanks left by their doctors. According to the same study, almost 33% of patients spent 5-10 hours hunting for additional information, 16% search for 10-30 hours, while 25% spend over 30 hours looking for cancer-related information.
90% of oncologists who were asked to comment on the usefulness of published and Internet based medical information, stated that such information is either inaccurate or too medically advanced for the average patient to understand.
The OIES™ helps save time that would otherwise be spent on lengthy information searches, while ensuring patients receive credible information.
